Norway Part Five-Back to Oslo and History Museum

Wednesday 4/1/15 to Thursday 4/2/15

Back to Oslo! We took a ten hour bus ride, including a surprise ferry trip. The ride was pretty bumpy but beautiful. We went high up into the mountains again and the amount of fresh white snow was unbelievable. It couldn't be captured in pictures. I felt as if I was in the Alaskan tundra. The one village we stopped at was crawling with Norwegians skiing and paraboarding (snowboards connected to parachutes).

The next day we visited the Norwegian History Museum. They had a variety of exhibits from around the world including one on Asia and one on North America. Also there were artifacts from the Stone Age, Middle Ages and Viking times.

We finished with some snakes, spiders and monkeys at the Reptile Park. Adam loved the little monkeys! He wants one for a pet. They were jumping all around.

World's oldest and most well preserved viking helmet.

Most of the information in the exhibits were in Norwegian but not their one! Apparently all we need to know is that "The Vikings were violent." In realty some were more violent than others and they were much more than brutes. They also had an effective democracy.

Adam's favorite! Pygmy monkey, world's smallest monkey that can turn their head around 180 degrees.
