Mora Part Nio

Lördag 3/14/15 till Tisdag 3/17/15

Last few days in Mora! Its been nice to settle in and really get to know people, both Swedes and immigrants from all over including Iran and Syria. We met a man named Hussein who is a photojournalist from Iran. He is essentially seeking refuge in Sweden for his photographs of tragic scenes in Iran. Monday he showed us photos we took in Iran and many he took of us and the school.

We also listened to a man talk about the current civil war occurring in Syria. He sought asylum in Sweden a few years ago. At one point he was jailed for three months. There are several forces struggling for control of the land once known as Syria. There is the free army, the original government, Al Qaeda and others. Several times Syrians have appealed to the United Nations for help fighting against the genocides occurring at the hands of the current government. However twice Russia and China vetoed sending aid. Therefore Syria has had virtually no help from the Western world. Many like the man I met want to live in a western society where freedom is a right. He showed unsettling photos and video. It was a solemn morning.
Saturday we played rugby and watched a rugby game :) PS Ingalil is the traditional Swedish name we gave to our rugby ball.

On Sunday we had an American potluck for all at the school to thank them. So much food! We also taught the Swedes kickball but it was so wet and muddy it practically turned into a slip and slide.

My Swedish professor Anna (rights) performed traditional Swedish tunes on her fiddle.

I played the school bass one last time.

Robin, a Swedish student who is applying to music schools in California, taught me to play electric bass.

Sidney loves her milk! Our professor when moving out had some milk he was going to throw away but Sidney drank it all instead.

Hannah all ready to go to Stockholm! It was suppose to be a four hour direct train but something was wrong with the tracks so we had to take buses to another train making us two hours late in Stockholm. When we arrived we ate McDonalds and crashed out.
