Mora Part Fem

Torsdag 2/26/15-Tisdag 3/3/15

Its been a pretty uneventful few days. On Friday we had a midterm for our Nordic Politics class. Saturday we had a Lord of the Rings marathon from 11am to midnight (extended versions). The school is on sport break because of the Vasaloppet.

"Vasaloppet (literally, The Vasa race) is an annual long distance (90 km) cross-country ski race (ski marathon) held on the first Sunday of March in northwestern DalarnaSweden between the village of Sälen and town of Mora. It is the oldest, the longest, and the biggest (in terms of participants) cross-country ski race in the world."

Every classroom and gym at our school is filled with beds and rented out to skiers. The official race is next Saturday but there are smaller ones every day until then. Mora reminds me of Jokkmokk during the winter market. They put snow on the street so the race finishes in the heart of town and there are tents and booths everywhere.
