Umeå Part Två (2)

Outdoor Excursion 1/17/15

Kristor took us out to a campsite on the Bothnia Gulf of the Baltic Sea to see the sunrise over the water at 9:08am. The mile walk to the site was covered in ice so it was entertaining watching everyone essentially skating in their boots. The ice continued onto the rocks and around the fire pit. I only wiped out twice!

We roasted hot dogs and ate Vasterbotten cheese. Also we roasted marshmallows that were really sweet. Kristor told us that his friend wrote the song that is played in the beginning of Frozen (or Frost in Swedish). How cool?

Back in town we explored the shops by our hostel and cooked dinner again. Tomorrow we have a free day. I get to sleep in!

PS: my red shirt died my socks pink in the laundry today. And I am definitely a bit jet lagged.

  1. I love the blog! Latin won't help you with Swedish - sorry. :) Can't wait to hear about your experience of immersion into a new culture for 5 months - kind of like a Roman military campaign. The students will be thrilled to hear from you next year. Keep writing and soak it all in! Mrs. Thomason

  2. Looks like everyone should be wearing ice skates. Hope no one got too badly bruised.
