Visby Part Två

Wednesday 5/13/15

We visited the museum in Visby today. It was filled with many artifacts from the island dating back to the stone ages.

There have been many picture stones found on the island, including the one above.

This is how the city looked in the 13th century when it was a major trading town.

Good museums have costumes! Hannah, Pat and Jorgen make a cute/weird medieval armored family.

Hannah looking intimidating.

Britta and Erin playing in the children's exhibit.

After the museum we got Swedish Kladkaka which is like a gooey chocolate brownies cake.

Thursday 5/14/15

We ate lunch at the old gallows. There hasn't been a hanging here since about the 1800s. Now it is just a beautiful place for a picnic with the ruins and a great view.

From what I can tell, Visby still has a bit of money. We went to the movie Pitch Perfect and came across a copious amount of ferraris in the main square.

Friday 5/15/15

We spent the day woking on final projects with quick dips in the sea for study breaks.

Saturday 5/16/15

Today we visited a local glass factory that gets glass from local restaurants and recycles it. We bought an ornament and engraved it as a thanks to the Jeremiasons for all they've done this semester.

Then we went a played around the Twin Sister Churches ruins.

Pat, Hannah, Erin, Me. It was a beautiful spot to climb, read, enjoy the company of friends and contemplate life if one so pleased.
